The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing jet propelled aircraft developed by Fairchild Republic in the early 1970s. The A-10 was manufactured for a United States Air Force necessity to provide close air reinforcement for ground forces by assaulting armored combat vehicles such as tanks, and other ground targets with a restrictive air defense capability. It was the primary USAF aircraft engineered exclusively for CAS.
